Issa Rae is moving to Paramount.
The Insecure creator and star has signed a first-look producing deal at Paramount that will cover both film and TV. Rae is moving to the Skydance-owned studio after a decade with HBO (which aired Insecure) and its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
Under the three-year deal, Rae and her Hoorae Film & Television will work with Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, Paramount Television Studios president Matt Thunell and Motion Picture Group president Don Granger on developing and producing TV and film projects.

Said Goldberg and Greenstein, “Issa is a true creative force whose work consistently feels fresh, funny, and deeply human. She epitomizes the kind of exceptional artist we’re proud to partner with across film and TV to break new ground in elevated storytelling.”
Rae’s deal is the latest in a string of high-profile talent pacts for Paramount since its merger with Skydance closed in August 2025. She joins Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, Will Smith and Wicked director Jon M. Chu in signing deals with Paramount (which, on the other side of the ledger, is losing prolific showrunner Taylor Sheridan to Universal).
Along with Insecure, Rae executive produced HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show and HBO Max’s Rap Sh!t and the docuseries Seen & Heard: The History of Black Television. She also produced Sony’s 2025 feature One of Them Days and is on board for a sequel that’s in development. Her recent acting credits include Barbie, American Fiction and an episode of Black Mirror; she has feature films Babies and Good People, Bad Things on deck.
