EXCLUSIVE: GammaTime, the micro-drama streaming platform launched by former Miramax boss Bill Block, has pacted with Spikes Studio to build a library of premium vertical shorts.
The library will be powered by Spikes Studio’s AI engine. Spikes Studio’s proprietary platform transforms catalog content into vertical micro-dramas. By intelligently optimizing pacing, framing, and cliffhangers for mobile viewing, the technology preserves the original narrative. This partnership does not use generative AI to create new content. Instead, the technology strictly reformats existing, fully produced libraries for vertical viewing—adapting the medium without altering the original creative work. The collaboration is intended to unlock scalable revenue without reshoots, additional production spend, or disruption to existing distribution windows. GammaTime, which started up in October, is now expanding with a growing slate of true crime, drama, and thriller content.
“Vertical shorts represent a new way to distribute and consume content, not a replacement for traditional formats,” said Block, the Founder and CEO of GammaTime. “This partnership allows existing catalogs of any size to unlock incremental revenue instantly, without risking the integrity of the original IP or requiring new capital investment.”
“The vertical ecosystem holds enormous untapped potential for content owners,” said Stephanie Bollag, Chief Strategy Officer of Spikes Studio. “Together with GammaTime, we’re not just enabling vertical adaptation—we’re building and operating the largest premium vertical library as a new distribution and monetization layer for studios and producers.”
