Kehlani has announced that her fifth studio album, “Kehlani,” will be released on April 24.
Earlier this month, the R&B singer said on social media that the album was finished and had been mastered. According to a release, the self-titled project “captures her at her most honest, blending soul-baring storytelling with the lush, genre-bending sound that has made her one of modern R&B’s most influential voices.”
Kehlani has been ramping up for the record with the release of lead singles “Folded” and “Out the Window.” “Folded” was a runaway smash, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spawning a series of remixes from Brandy, JoJo and Toni Braxton, among others. In February, she won her first two Grammy Awards with “Folded” in the best R&B performance and best R&B song categories.
Though little is known about the album, Kehlani explained in a November interview with “The Cruz Show” that it’s a “very confident body of work.” “I wanted to make a great R&B album and I’m working on making a great R&B album with some of my favorite people of all time who I’ve always loved,” she said. “For some reason, everything is falling perfectly into place.”
“Kehlani” comes in the wake of her previous four studio albums, most recently with 2024’s “Crash.” Not long after its release, she dropped the mixtape “While We Wait 2,” which featured guest appearances from Lucky Daye, Lil’ Mo and Vince Staples. In September 2024, she kicked off a global tour in support of “Crash” that continued through March 2025.
