Elon Musk’s AI company filed a federal lawsuit against his ex Ashley St. Clair the same day she filed her own lawsuit against the billionaire’s company, Us Weekly can report.
On Thursday, January 15, Musk’s AI company, xAI, sued St. Clair in Texas court. The lawsuit claims St. Clair signed up to use the AI chatbot Grok in December 2024.
The suit alleges St. Clair and her lawyers threatened xAI with a lawsuit on Wednesday, January 14, that would be filed in New York. (St. Clair filed her lawsuit on January 15.)
Musk’s company said when St. Clair signed up for Grok, she agreed all disputes would be heard in Texas, not New York. xAI claims St. Clair violated the terms of her deal by bringing a lawsuit in New York.

“[xAI] have suffered damages as a result of Defendant’s breaches, including but not limited to, loss of time, extra efforts and costs expended, loss of a contractually agreed-upon forum for resolution of disputes, and attorney’s fees,” the suit alleged.

Musk’s company demanded an injunction against St. Clair, barring her from suing in New York, a money judgment against her and attorney fees.
When contacted for comment, St. Clair’s lawyer told Us, “The notice was not a threat; it was routine, mandatory notice under New York civil rules for a temporary restraining order application. The defendant’s preemptive countersuit is meritless and appears to be a tactical effort to intimidate our client rather than address the substance of the case.”

St. Clair filed a lawsuit against Musk’s AI company, xAI, on Thursday. In the complaint, St. Clair took issue with xAI’s chatbot, Grok, which she said allows users to “undress, humiliate, and sexually exploit victims.”
St. Clair claimed Grok created images of her in various states of undress and in sexually explicit situations.

Her lawyer wrote, “Grok first promised Ms. St. Clair that it would refrain from manufacturing more images unclothing her. Instead, Defendant retaliated against her, demonetizing her X account and generating multitudes more images of her, including unlawful images of her in sex positions … virtually nude, and images of her as a child naked.”
“Such images are de facto nonconsensual, but Grok and xAI also had explicit knowledge that St. Clair was not consenting to the creation or dissemination of these images because of her requests for removal,” the lawsuit added.
St. Clair and Musk are in the middle of a court battle over the 16-month-old child they share. Her lawyer noted, “[xAI] was in a special relationship with [St. Clair], who was a Premium subscriber on X and has a public, personal relationship with [xAI’s] founder.”
Musk has yet to respond to St. Clair’s lawsuit in court.

Back in March 2025, St. Clair sued Musk in New York for paternity and support for their child, R.S.C.
St. Clair said she attempted to resolve the issues with Musk before filing a lawsuit in public court.

The petition read, “[Musk] and I began our romantic relationship in or about May 2023. I had sexual intercourse with [Musk] on or about the 2nd day of January 2024 and on or about the 3rd day of January 2024, in various locations, including but not limited to St. Barths during which time our child was conceived.”
St. Clair claimed Musk was not present for their child’s birth and had only seen the kid a handful of times. “[Musk] has never asked to see our child on any other occasion, he has never communicated to me about our child without my prompting, and he has never asked for photos of our child or checked in after doctor’s appointments,” St. Clair’s petition stated.
Musk quickly hired a lawyer who had the case sealed. The battle is ongoing.
