UPDATE: As we told you, Marty Supreme was bound to become A24’s highest grossing movie ever around the world this past weekend with a global take of $148.8M, outstripping previous champ, the multi Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, which had a reported global take of $142.8M. Final reported figures this afternoon show a global weekend of $6.6M ($5.6M overseas, $1.03M domestic). The movie became A24’s highest ever in North America a while ago, that running cume standing at $92.8M with international at $56M. Marty Supreme previously surpassed Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar nominated pic from last year, A Complete Unknown ($140.5M).
Many major territories have still to open including France, Benelux, Switzerland, and Denmark this week. China goes on March 20 Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Vietnam will also open in March.
In Australia and New Zealand, the Josh Safdie directed movie is officially A24’s highest there with respectively $5.4M and $690K.
Among the territories bowing this weekend were Sweden at 139 cinemas and $270K, ranking 2nd in the market behind a hit local teen movie.
In Hungary & Slovakia (Unicorn / Vertigo), the sassy ping pong player opened to $143k across 116 screens in both countries.
Chile opened this past weekend with $127k on 115 screens, which 41% ahead of Killers of the Flower Moon and above the final cume of A Complete Unknown ($91K).
In Italy, Marty Supreme passed both Challengers ($4.7M reported) and A Complete Unknown ($4.2M).
He’s also warming up Iceland with his third No. 1 week in a row.
The top territories for the 9x Oscar nominated pic are UK (a wild $21M), Australia ($5.4M), Italy ($4.8M), Mexico ($3M), Spain ($2.48M), Poland ($1.9M), Brazil ($1.43M), Norway ($1.07M) and Israel ($867K).

A24’s nine-time Oscar nominee Marty Supreme is getting a China release via China Film Group with an assist in promotion by Wanda Film. The news comes just as the Timothée Chalamet movie is about to become the highest grossing ever in A24’s history, surpassing the reported worldwide gross of Everything Everywhere All at Once ($142.8M). Marty Supreme‘s global running cume as of Monday stood north of $133M.
Already, Marty Supreme is the highest grossing A24 movie at the domestic B.O. with $91.1M.
Marty Supreme joins a group of Chalamet-leading titles to play the Middle Kingdom including Dune 2 ($49M, his highest grossing there), Dune ($39.5M), Wonka ($7.5M) and A Complete Unknown ($152K) to name a few.
Marty Supreme is now nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Josh Safdie, and Best Actor Chalamet. Chalamet is nominated for two Oscars in the Best Picture category as a producer of the pic (alongside Safdie, scribe Ronald Bronstein, and producers Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas) and Best Actor. Overall, Chalamet counts four Oscar nominations.
Marty Supreme also counts noms for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Casting, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Screenplay.
