Sony is shifting their Nate Bargatze family comedy The Breadwinner from March 13 to May 29. Summer break commences around that time, so it’s an optimal time to get families.
The Breadwinner leaves behind Universal’s feature take of Colleen Hoover novel Reminders of Him from Universal on that date as well as A24’s Undertone among the notable wide entries.
On its new weekend of the post Memorial Day frame, The Breadwinner goes up against Paramount’s Andre Ovredal horror movie Passenger, Focus Features’ Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser movie Pressure, an untitled A24 horror movie, as well as Black Bear’s Dustin Hoffman-Leo Woodall crime movie Tuner.
Eric Appel directs The Breadwinner which follows a breadwinner husband (played by stand-up Bargatze) who switches roles with his wife (Mandy Moore) after she lands a Shark Tank deal. He struggles to adapt as a stay-at-home dad to their three daughters. Bargatze co-wrote with Dan Lagana. Will Forte and Kumail Nanjiani also star.
Producers on The Breadwinner are Bargatze, Lagana, and Jeremy Latcham. EPs are Andrew Duggan Pace and JoAnn Perritano.
