The Nielsen streaming stats for the season two premiere of Fallout are significantly smaller than those for season one in 2024 — but that’s not the complete picture.
Fallout accumulated 794 million viewing minutes on Prime Video for the week of Dec. 15-21; season two debuted on Dec. 16. That’s way down from the 2.9 billion minutes of watch time for season one’s opening week in April 2024, which stands as the best premiere for a series ever on the Amazon-owned platform.
There are a couple of big differences between the seasons, however, that help account for the disparity. Prime Video released Fallout season one as a binge. In season two, the streamer opted for a weekly release, and it dropped only one episode on Dec. 16, rather than two or three as it has done for a number of other series.
Nearly 800 million minutes of viewing is still a healthy number, and Nielsen says the season two premiere accounted for 54 percent (about 429 million) of the total. The remainder came from season one, as Nielsen counts viewing for all seasons of a series in its streaming rankings.
Stranger Things kept its hold on the No. 1 overall spot with 2.38 billion minutes of viewing, down about 21 percent week to week. Dec. 15-21 was the last week during which only the first half of Stranger Things’ final season was out; part two debuted on Christmas, and the season finale premiered on New Year’s Eve.
Paramount+’s Landman continued its big second season, growing for a fifth straight week to 1.61 billion minutes of viewing. Emily in Paris returned to the rankings with 831 million minutes of viewing with the premiere of season five, up a bit from season four (which was split into two parts) in September 2024.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery led the movie charts for a second week with 1.1 billion minutes of viewing, down a modest 16 percent from its opening a week earlier.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Dec. 15-21, 2025, are below.
